Day 2: TALLEST Everything in Dubai

We were greeted and royally treated by Sultan and Gioia in Dubai. Sultan was my student at EWU ten years ago and what a pleasure it was to see him at home. Dubai is a fascinating city - which does not sleep! The Dubai Fountain (largest fountain in the world) is right in front of the Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world) and provides 12 shows each day - all choreographed to music. Lionel Richie was performing tonight. (Just google "Micheal Jackson Thriller, Dubai Fountain" and you will see some real action) Sad to spend such a short time with this wonderful couple who are getting married in September. They gave us a true taste of culture and tradition. The call to prayer at 5:15 am was a highlight for me with the mystical music floating all over the city and right into our bedroom window. On to Kathmandu tomorrow!
