Day 7: Vern's Teaching Debut and Necklace Success!

There are few things Vern dreads more than standing in front of a group, but stand and present he did! His lecture on sanitation was sprinkled with laughter, thoughtful reminders, and demonstrations. One of the cute little participants, Gita Panthei, translated the basic lesson about "Why you should NOT poop in the garden", and the group was roaring with laughter at her animation! Then our in-house artist, Erin Hawkins, re-designed the World Health Organization Five F's chart (fingers, fluids, fields, flies, food) and Vern presented that too. I taught a basic nutrition class and Michelle Malik wrapped lessens up for the rest of the day. We ended the day with ten young women all diving into the necklace making project. I risked my life a few times dashing across a crazy busy street to the local tailor to get fabric tubes sewn for the class, but all went well. They caught on quickly and hopefully will now produce this craft as a fund-raiser. All in all, a very full, fun day!
