Trial and Error: Finding Little Balls

Trying to figure out what will work inside the fabric for the Nepal Necklaces. Something readily available and affordable for the women volunteers who will make them.  Wooden beads?  Very expensive to buy...  Salt dough beads?  Might be eaten by critters...  Little wooden dowels?  Too much trouble to find and sand...  Acorns or Buckeyes?  Probably would not be able to cross international borders...  So the search goes on!   Any ideas???  :)

  1. Thinking of yarn balls....take about a 12-18 inch long piece of yarn and wrap it around and around into a little ball and then secure the end with a bit of glue?

  2. That's a GREAT idea - could use sari fabric? Only problem is they might be a bit light. They will be put IN the fabric with knots tied around each end...thanks for the tip :)
