My brother and I just scattered mom and dad's ashes around their gardens, pond, and especially in the newly planted bean rows in a mile long field. It was their favorite field - not the best crop yield, but favorite because it was bordered by the Racoon River, scattered with wild strawberries, raspberries, plums, mushrooms, and mulberry trees. Four old farmers wanted to sell their farms and Dad created long rows as a memory to them. Special moments to say a final goodbye...
So beautiful, Barb.
ReplyDeleteYes...strange and yet beautiful experience. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, eh?

ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile.. I think your mom and dad were such special people. I wasn't around them a lot but when ever we were at your house when we were teens they always seemed to be so caring and into family.. Thinking of you.
